LISA COHEN, MSW, LSWAIC
I view counseling as a collaborative effort, where you are the expert and I am your ally. I create
a safe environment for you to investigate the sources of your discomfort, gain awareness of
how they affect your life, and help you develop healthy coping skills.
I work with teens, adults and older adults who are experiencing a wide range of challenges,
such as depression, anxiety, bullying, relationship issues, major life transitions, life-limiting
illnesses, care-giving challenges, and grief and loss.
In addition to seeing clients at Seattle Family Support, I lead bullying prevention workshops for
5th - 8th grade students, using my short documentary, Confessions of a Social Bully, and have
recently completed a comprehensive companion lesson guide for the film. I also conduct
educational presentations to parents, school social workers and teachers on school bullying.
I am an Associate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LSWAIC) trained in Psychodynamic Theory,
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT),
Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method (Level 1). I hold a BA in Fine Arts History from
Tufts University and an MSW from the University of Washington.
I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Washington State
Society for Clinical Social Work (WSSCSW). To ensure my best service to you, I consult regularly
with my colleagues at Seattle Family Support, LLC.
